John Davis Memorial Fund

This fund was created at the request of Eagle Scout John Davis.  He was a huge supporter of Troop 256 (boys and girls), where his son Eric is a Scoutmaster and his two grandsons, Luke and Zane, earned Eagle Scout.

John Davis was an inspirational, lifelong Scout.

His adherence to the Scout Oath and Law defined his character. He was particularly good at “Helpful”. He enjoyed his own adventures as a Scout in Troop 84 in Miami, Florida so much that he supported Scouting activity, as a volunteer and a professional, for the rest of his life.

John was a regular attendee at Troop 256 Eagle Scout Courts of Honor, always standing to repeat the Charge to Eagle with each new Eagle. He also served as a merit badge counselor for the Troop.

Since 2008, John contributed several thousand dollars, usually anonymously, to Troop 256 to provide scholarships so Scouts could go to summer camp and high adventure trips. He also purchased multiple new tents and equipment.

Gifts to the John Davis Memorial fund will continue his commitment to be sure that financial need will never prevent a Scout in Troop 256 B or G from attending summer camp or visiting a high adventure base.

John Davis passed away on July 7, 2023 at the age of 82. One of his last great joys was reviewing photos of the Troops at Camp Grimes this summer. Seeing Scouts continuing the traditions that he himself enjoyed so much as a child always made him smile and gave him hope.
